Earth science (also known as geoscience, the geosciences or the Earth sciences), is an all-embracing term for the sciences related to the planet Earth. It is arguably a special case in planetary science, the Earth being the only known life-bearing planet. There are both reductionist and holistic approaches to Earth science.

There are four major disciplines in earth sciences, namely geography, geology, geophysics and geodesy. These major disciplines use physics, chemistry, biology, chronology and mathematics to build a quantitative understanding of the principal areas or spheres of the Earth system.

The following fields of science are generally categorized within the geosciences:

- Geology describes the rocky parts of the Earth’s crust (or lithosphere) and its historic development. Major subdisciplines are mineralogy and petrology, geochemistry, geomorphology, paleontology, stratigraphy, structural geology, engineering geology and sedimentology.

- Geophysics and Geodesy investigate the figure of the Earth, its reaction to forces and its magnetic and gravity fields. Geophysicists explore the Earth’s core and mantle as well as the tectonic and seismic activity of the lithosphere.

- Soil science covers the outermost layer of the Earth’s crust that is subject to soil formation processes (or pedosphere). Major subdisciplines include edaphology and pedology.

- Oceanography and hydrology (includes limnology) describe the marine and freshwater domains of the watery parts of the Earth (or hydrosphere). Major subdisciplines include hydrogeology and physical, chemical, and biological oceanography.

- Glaciology covers the icy parts of the Earth (or cryosphere).

- Atmospheric sciences cover the gaseous parts of the Earth (or atmosphere) between the surface and the exosphere (about 1000 km). Major subdisciplines are meteorology, climatology, atmospheric chemistry and atmospheric physics.

- A very important linking sphere is the biosphere, the study of which is biology. The biosphere consists of all forms of life, from single-celled organisms to pine trees to people. The interactions of Earth’s other spheres – lithosphere/geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and/or cryosphere and pedosphere – create the conditions that can support life.

After 4 months of writing, editing, gathering information, finding the right media and music (and getting it approved) :D Its finally here, Where Science and Buddhism Meet: Emptiness, Interconnectivity and the Nature of Reality.

First thank you for taking the time to watch this! If you enjoy this video and think it would be of some benefit or interest of other please please share it, favorite it, link it in your own videos. I have nothing but a pure altruistic intention behind this, I’ve made it to share what I and many other have found, a profound convergence of two way seemingly opposite ways of perceiving and understanding reality. Lots of love!!

Applied Scalar Wave Technology – Tom Bearden interview 1of8

Part 1 of 8
Tom Bearden: An Interview on H3O / HRx & The Brave New World of Applied Scalar Wave Technology

Next Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLVzTkRnuKk

The use of scalar wave technology to produce H3O and HRx solutions brings with it a set of observable phenomenon that cannot be validated using orthodox models of chemistry and physics. To better explain some of their properties, we sought out the input of world-renowned physicist, Dr. Tom Bearden, in the U.S. – well-known for his theoretical contributions in the field of scalar wave. What resulted was an expansive interview (taped 10/17/01) — over an hour of which is observable below in four separate files. Most of this material will seem quite arcane to those without formal training in physics, but for even the untrained who grasp just 10% of the content, the obvious will become clear: now that applied applications of scalar wave technology, as profound as H3O and HRx now exist, its theoretical underpinnings will not be able to be ignored by orthodox science forever.

Parts I to III (of VIII)- Prior to taping, an Alpha Omega representative discussed how H3O can be used in place of sulphuric acid in batteries, how it holds charge and has even been shown to be self-recharging. Also mentioned before taping, was H3O’s tendency to pick up charge in its environment (i.e. during a thunderstorm). Without even going further to explore its amazing medicinal properties, Dr. Bearden explains these phenomenon by examining laws of physics which are still considered “outside the box.” Also covered is the encroachment of dogmatism into theoretical science, the myth of the scientific method, and the excoriation of honest scientists who have attempted to examine cold fusion.

Angels & Demons: The Science Revealed

Posted on May 25, 2009
By admin in Uncategorized

Could you really destroy the Vatican using a small amount of antimatter made in the Large Hadron Collider? Thats the question Carnegie Mellons Manfred Paulini seeks to answer in the lecture Angels and Demons: The Science Revealed. Dr. Paulini, an experimental particle physicist and member of the CMS experiment at CERNs Large Hadron Collider, discusses the science facts and fiction in the movie Angels and Demons, based on Dan Browns best-selling novel.

Dr. Paulini talks about the physics at the heart of Angels and Demons, which focuses on what happens when matter and antimatter meet. The absence of practically any antimatter in the universe is crucial to our existence, and understanding that absence is one of the big challenges of particle physics.

Carl Sagan, Ph.D. (1934-1996) was an American astronomer, astrochemist, author, and highly successful popularizer of astronomy, astrophysics and other natural sciences. He pioneered exobiology and promoted the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

He is world-famous for writing popular science books and for co-writing and presenting the award-winning 1980 television series “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage”, which has been seen by more than 600 million people in over 60 countries.

During his lifetime, Sagan published more than 600 scientific papers and popular articles and was author, co-author, or editor of more than 20 books. In his works, he frequently advocated skeptical inquiry, secular humanism, and the scientific method.

Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) was a German mathematician, astronomer and astrologer, and key figure in the 17th century scientific revolution. He is best known for his eponymous laws of planetary motion, codified by later astronomers based on his works “Astronomia nova”, “Harmonices Mundi”, and “Epitome of Copernican Astrononomy”. They also provided one of the foundations for Isaac Newton’s theory of universal gravitation.

During his career, Kepler was a mathematics teacher at a seminary school in Graz, Austria, an istant to astronomer Tycho Brahe, the court mathematician to Emperor Rudolf II, a mathematics teacher in Linz, Austria, and an adviser to General Wallenstein. He also did fundamental work in the field of optics, invented an improved version of the refracting telescope (the Keplerian Telescope), and helped to legitimize the telescopic discoveries of his contemporary Galileo Galilei.

Kepler lived in an era when there was no clear distinction between astronomy and astrology, but there was a strong division between astronomy (a branch of mathematics within the liberal arts) and physics (a branch of natural philosophy).

SCIENCE & ISLAM 1/6 | The language of science العلم والإسلام

Posted on May 13, 2009
By admin in Uncategorized

A BBC documentary examining the great leap in scientific knowledge that took place in the Islamic world between the 8th and 14th centuries.

Isaac Newton is, as most will agree, the greatest physicist of all time.
At the very least, he is the undisputed father of modern optics, or so we are told at school where our textbooks abound with his famous experiments with lenses and prisms, his study of the nature of light and its reflection, and the refraction and decomposition of light into the colours of the rainbow.

Yet, the truth is rather greyer; and I feel it important to point out that, certainly in the field of optics, Newton himself stood on the shoulders of a giant who lived 700 years earlier.

For, without doubt, another great physicist, who is worthy of ranking up alongside Newton, is a scientist born in AD 965 in what is now Iraq who went by the name of al-Hassan Ibn al-Haytham.

Most people in the West will never have even heard of him.
As a physicist myself, I am quite in awe of this man’s contribution to my field, but I was fortunate enough to have recently been given the opportunity to dig a little into his life and work through my recent filming of a three-part BBC Four series on medieval Islamic scientists.
Modern methods
Popular accounts of the history of science typically suggest that no major scientific advances took place in between the ancient Greeks and the European Renaissance.
But just because Western Europe languished in the Dark Ages, does not mean there was stagnation elsewhere. Indeed, the period between the 9th and 13th Centuries marked the Golden Age of Arabic science.
Great advances were made in mathematics, astronomy, medicine, physics, chemistry and philosophy. Among the many geniuses of that period Ibn al-Haytham stands taller than all the others.
