Wow this is awesome. The lack of engine noise really allows the mind to comprehend the scary amounts of power that are on tap. And the noise when it pulled away…that was something else!

Bill Dube,
First …
Bill Dube,
First of all, congratulations. Like I said before you can go faster, specially when you and your team are out there setting records like this. So, now you finally found a nice AC motor I see? Why did you wait until now and why only 500HP? There’s a company out there that makes a nice 700HP+ AC motor you know. What would the guys who said all those nice things about the DC say now. Keep the records coming, I love electric vehicles of all shapes and sizes.
Regards.

In Pomona, we ran a …
In Pomona, we ran a 7.825 and then a 7.991. Since they were slightly more than 1% apart, the slower of the two becomes the official record.
We are working on three fronts:
1) We have a sponsor building a 500 HP AC drive.
2) We have much more powerful cells coming soon from A123Systems.
3) We have more trick up our sleeves to squeeze more performance out of the DC motors.

Was the 7.82@168mph …
Was the 7.82@168mph done at Pomona on Nov 10, 2007 not official?
What will it take to shave another 3/10ths of a second of the 7.8x times like the improvment from the 8.21@155mph in March 07 at Firebird speedway in AZ to the 7.82@168mph done 7 months later at Pomona?
Don’t get me wrong, I really respect the work these guys are doing to advance the state of the art. A gas head friend of mine said “that’s the future”, after we watched the previous two best times!
